Céline Dion Muse
October 15, 2002
British rock band Muse are threatening legal action against Canadian superstar Celine Dion over her planned use of the
title Muse for a string of shows in Las Vegas. The management company for Dion, who has sold more than 140 million records
world-wide, offered to buy the rights for $50,000 (£32,000) but the offer was rejected by the band.
They fear its use would jeopardise their chances of cracking the US market. The band told the firm they didn't want to
appear to be "Celine Dion's support act". But the management company are pressing ahead with plans to use the title
anyway, prompting the band to consider suing the singer.
'Backing band'
The firm told Muse: "Our client will proceed without the proposed settlement and will use the mark Celine Dion Muse
for its shows and related goods and services." The band's lead singer Matthew Bellamy said: "We fully intend to
crack America with our next album and we don't want to turn up there with people thinking we're Celine Dion's backing band.

Celine Dion's Palatial Florida Home for Sale
Thu Aug 22, 4:53 PM ET
JUPITER, Fla. (Reuters) - Canadian pop diva Celine Dion's palatial Florida home is up for sale, and the "king looking
for a castle" will have to come up with $20 million to move in.
The mansion in Jupiter, near the swanky resort of Palm Beach, is being sold with furniture and other contents, including
china, linens, wine, and art work, said Rob Thomson, a partner with Waterfront Properties and Club Communities, which is handling
the sale.
"For a king looking for a castle, they are hard to find, but this one is a castle, it's fabulous," Thomson enthused
on Thursday. "Everything is really tastefully done ... It's the highest quality house I've ever been in."
There's plenty of room for one's heart to go on. The home, built four years ago by Dion, 34, and her husband, Rene Angelil,
boasts some 15,000 square feet of air-conditioned space as well as landscaped gardens and a pool.
Famed for her smash hit "My Heart Will Go On," Dion is one of the world's best-selling pop singers and recently
returned to the music scene with her album "A New Day Has Come," following a hiatus after the birth of her son last
year.
Dion is currently preparing for a three-year series of concerts beginning next March in Las Vegas, under a contract reportedly
worth $100 million.
The Florida property is located in a gated community called Admiral's Cove, which features golf courses and a marina with
slips for boats up to 130 feet long, and where massive mansions are dotted amid manicured lawns.
Details of the Dion home include sound-proofing in the master bedroom, so a buyer can try hitting the high notes without
bothering the neighbors.
The house has been on the market for a couple of days, Thomson said, but gave no details.

Celine is artist of the month on VH1 for MAY!!!!!!!
Celine Dion Speaks About Her Career:
When Celine Dion took a temporary retirement from the stage following her 1999 Millennium concert, it was her first break
in a career spanning 20 years. Now, after clearing her head and opening her heart to her one-year-old baby boy, shes back
with
a chart-topping album, A New Day Has Come. Shes also appearing at VH1 Divas Las Vegas. The singer sat down with VH1 to
recount the various high points of her extraordinary life, being a new parent, and her plans for the future.
Champs Elysees French Variety Show (1983)
I was 14 years old, still a baby at the time. I was with my mother. It was my first French TV show and very nerve-racking.
But I was ready for it. I didnt really rehearse. I did my vocal exercises, but I didnt have a lot of training. When it was
time for me to perform live, I didnt know how I was going to present myself. I concentrated on not changing hands with the
microphone. I did that a lot because I was quite nervous. But I wanted to sing my song with as much emotion as possible. I
was going to perform on television like I was in my living room and all those people were my brothers and sisters. I didnt
want to think about how I was gonna be.
First appearance on The Tonight Show (1990)
I went crazy about what I was going to wear, which is ridiculous because I should be concerned about what I am going to
sing! But when its your first time doing such an important TV show, you know a lot of people will be watching - the whole
province of Quebec! We hoped that it was going to open doors for us. It was [around the time of] my first English album. I
was going to sing Where Does My Heart Beat Now? They told me they wanted me to come back on the show while I was rehearsing.
I said, What do you mean we are coming back? We are not doing this show now? Rene [Angelil, manager and husband] was jumping
in the air. He said, Yes, we are doing it tonight, but they are so happy with you they want you to come back. We are booked
for another time. When I came home, the people from Quebec did a TV commercial with the message, Congratulations for last
night. You were great on Jay Leno. I went to school not long after that because Rene said, Celine, if you want to sing English
you have to learn the language. So I went to a Berlitz school for two months, every day, nine to five. It was very intensive.
I was not speaking the language fluently; singing it was a little bit easier. But it was scary to do an English interview.
What am I going to do if I dont understand? Say, Excuse me, Jay Leno, I dont understand what youre talking about?
My Heart Will Go On (1998)
I will perform this song for the rest of my life and it will always remain a very emotional experience for me. [Titanic
director] James Cameron didnt want to have any songs in this movie. The composer James Horner wrote that song without him
knowing. He said, James Cameron does not know about this, but would you sing that song just to give it a try as a demo? So
we did a demo, and the demo became the record. I never re-sang the song. They built the orchestra around it. Im glad James
Cameron changed his mind about having a song in the movie. A lot of people related to that song. Im here because I want to
be with people. I want to enter their lives. [That song is] a very important moment in both my career and my life.
Being impersonated on Saturday Night Live (1998)
Sometimes people imitate you, and Anna Gasteyer exaggerates my character and personality, but its funny. I asked her to
come and be part of my show and do a number with me. [During a show] when it was time for me to change for the Titanic thing,
I used to come up in the middle of the stage, changing my wardrobe, putting on my big dress for the finale. Instead, she came
on stage in my dress and started to exaggerate - Nearrrr, farrrrr - the whole thing. Everybody thought it was me. People in
the audience thought I was going to go crazy. Finally I came on stage behind her and Im like, Hello? Everybody cracked up.
Im flattered when they take the time to impersonate you. I think its a good sign.
VH1 Divas Live (1998)
Everything that I decide to do means something, otherwise I dont do them. That night I was going to be surrounded by amazing,
talented people like Aretha Franklin, Mariah Carey, Gloria Estefan, and Shania Twain. I was also going to be with my band,
which is a pleasure every time. I was going to sing, which is one of the things that I enjoy most in life. I remember when
Carole King came on stage. We joined her and sang Youve Got a Friend, which is one of my favorite songs. The audience sang
along with us. It was fun, it was wild. Everybody wanted to be a diva!
The Millennium Concert on New Years Eve, Montreal (1999)
It was very emotional to be home and do one last farewell show. I was going on to my new life, which was very important
for me. I was looking forward to seeing my husband and having a life and maybe trying to have a little child and have no schedule,
no training, no discipline. I knew I was going to come back, so it wasnt like Ciao! Adios! Im leaving forever! It was like,
Im going on vacation. Thank you for all the great moments youve given me and maybe well see each other soon. There was no
sadness. One emotional moment in the show for me and Rene and my family was when we did the countdown to the year 2000. That
was special and scary, because a lot of things had been said like, Oh, its going to be the end of the world. But that night
my family and husband came on stage. Everybody hugged, everybody kissed. I looked in the audience. There were no strangers.
Everybody was singing and cheering and hugging. That was a beautiful picture to look at.
Having a baby (2001)
Becoming a mother makes you a grown-up. Youre all they have. They trust you, they need you. Thats all they want. They
want to be loved, protected and supported. Children know the secrets of life. They know everything. To be around children
makes you discover the child that you are inside. I approach my whole life differently now. Nothing really has the same meaning
anymore. I had lots of dreams when I was younger: to become an international singer, to sing in different languages, to talk
in different languages, to be in movies, to travel the world, sell a lot of records. Ive done lots of things, but they are
no longer dreams. My real dream came true. We had a son.
America: A Tribute To Heroes (2001)
It was a very hard thing for me. Originally, I was supposed to go to a recording studio to perform God Bless America and
they were going to film me. Obviously the whole thing changed in just a few hours. They wanted me to sing live in New York.
I didnt want to leave my son. I was still breast-feeding at the time. My husband and I were crying. Going to New York I thought
I was never going to come back, but Im glad I went. It was a responsibility. Once somebody asked you to do something like
that, to represent, I had no choice. Nobody had a dressing room. Everybody was backstage together. It was a very emotional
experience and Im just happy that I did it.
Her Vegas show (2002)
Two years ago I saw the Cirque de Soleil. It changed my vision of my performing. This is what I wanted for me. Rene said,
You cant have a show like that. You cant travel with a show like that. Its too big. Forget about it. Its impossible! I said,
Why dont we move then? He said, Are you serious? I said, For sure, Im serious. Caesars Palace were interested in building
a 4000-seater Coliseum for us. Cirque du Soleils Franco Dragone was interested in working with us. Things turned out great.
The only way to be stable is to be in one place. Im going to be based in Las Vegas for three years. And Im able to give the
visual show I want for my fans. Every song will become an experience. Its not going to be singing one song right after the
other. Its going to be 50 or 60 performers on stage with me doing things that I could never have on tour. Every song will
be a video. Its going to be very spectacular.
Definitions of thrush: a) a contagious disease caused by a fungus, Candida albicans, characterized by a foul-smelling discharge,
b) any one of numerous species of singing birds noted for the sweetness of their songs, c) a woman who sings popular songs.
All three can, in fact, be used to describe vocal powerhouse and multi-platinum superstar Celine Dion and her music. The worst
thing about C to the D-I is that you can't really expect much; she's great at what she does (we'll get to that in a minute)
but if she ever tried anything too edgy she'd probably just sound foolish. So that leaves us with more of what she does best.
Dion's return from "hiatus" (Slant notes that she was technically only gone for two years) comes in the form of
a lengthy collection of drippy, gooey pop fluffer-nutter that may leave many with the first of the aforementioned thrushes.
That said, Dion's attempts at "edginess" on her new album, A New Day Has Come, are largely hit or miss. Imported
from teen-pop-happy Sweden, the bubbly "Rain, Tax (It's Inevitable)" is an inevitable joke--Dion is leagues above
drivel such as "Love ain't like fashion/The look remains the same." The singer gets the Cher treatment on "Sorry
For Love," an unexpected change of pace that actually works. (Will clubland greet the songbird with hands in the air
the way it has other aging divas?) Dion boldly takes a shot at two covers--a soulful rendition of Etta James' "At Last"
and a simple and moving arrangement of David Bowie's "Nature Boy." It's in these rare moments that you might forget
she ever caterwauled her way through that Meatloaf song.
The album, of course, is packed with the usual Adult Contemporary fare. "I Surrender" is a power ballad only
a singer with Dion's voice could pull off, while the guitar-driven "Ten Days" is an undeniably catchy pop-rocker
with a surprisingly edgy vocal. "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)," a track written and produced by R. J. "Mutt"
Lange and featuring Shania Twain on backing vocals, is the kind of sappy mama-lovin' tune that will leave you nauseous or
in tears. The album's standout tracks are the uplifting midtempo number "I'm Alive" and the stirring title track
(not since 1993's "The Power Of Love" has a Dion performance been so restrained). In this particular case, the thrush
should be noted for the sweetness of her song.

9, 2000 There's no hiding happiness. We can't keep something so big, so wonderful, a secret just for us. This time
it's for real - I'm pregnant. We just found out yesterday afternoon, Ren and I, that the dream dearest to our hearts
has come true. We are completely, totally happy. And we thank God for the great joy we've been given. Over this
past year, we went through a terrible test together, but we made it through. Stronger, closer, more loving than ever. The
man of my life, my whole life was seriously ill. He could have thrown in the towel, given up, and let our happiness die. But,
instead of giving up, he chose to fight with all his might. Because he loves life. Because he loves me. For his children,
for his friends. And today, the life he fought for and saved is now beating inside of me, growing inside of me.
This is my love. This is the proof that you must believe in happiness, the proof that love exists so long as you believe in
it. A few days ago, Ren went through some major tests that all came back negative. The doctors who examined him
found no trace of the disease. For me, this is still what counts most. In three weeks, if all goes well, we'll hear
the heart of our baby, beating in my tummy. We know how fragile this new life is. But, we know that, whatever
happens, life has already won. Celine @ VH1 May 11, 2000 VH1 will be premiering

Suit Against The National Enquirer February 29, 2000 Official Press Release: Cline Dion has filed a
20 million dollar lawsuit, in the Los Angeles Superior Court, against the National Enquirer who recently published a false
headline and cover story entitled "Cline - I'm pregnant with twins". The publication also falsely suggests or creates
the impression that Cline personally gave an interview to the tabloid and is quoted to have made the statement that she is
pregnant with twins. The headline falsely implies that Cline was a direct source for the story and purports to quote Ms. Dion
in professing her pregnancy. It has been well publicized that Ms. Dion very much wants to start a family but has
been unable to conceive to date, and the false headline and article have caused her significant emotional anguish. Since its
publication, Ms. Dion has been embarrassed by the inquiries from numerous friends and associates regarding the false information
published by the Enquirer, and is distressed by having to continually inform these individuals that in fact she is not pregnant.
She issued the following statement. "This thing has really upset me. Since that story came out, everyone has
been congratulating me, and I have to keep telling them that it's not true. I only wish it was true, and I hope and pray that
some day it will be." Celine's Juno Nods! February 9, 2000 Congrats again! Celine has been

Of Song' will be in stores! Celine is the world's best-selling solo artist and a five-time Grammy Award winner,

including her Number One singles "The Power Of Love," "Because You Loved Me (Theme From Up Close And Personal),"
"I'm Your Angel," and the Grammy and Academy Award-winning classic "My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme From Titanic)."
Also included are "Beauty And The Beast," winner of the 1992 Academy Award for Best Song Written For A Motion Picture
Or Television; the smash "It's All Coming Back to Me Now"; and the hit "If You Asked Me To." 'All
The Way' also includes seven brand-new songs, all recorded in the summer of '99 specifically for this collection. Here are
just a few of the highlights: "That's The Way It Is" - The premiere single and video from the album, produced
by Max Martin and Kristian Lundin (Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears), "That's The Way It Is" is a heartfelt mid-tempo
track perfectly in tune with contemporary pop music. "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" - This classic
Ewen MacColl ballad became a No. 1 hit for Roberta Flack in 1972. David Foster's sensitive production and orchestration frame
one of Celine's finest vocal performances. "All The Way" - The late Frank Sinatra was one of Celine's
all-time favorite singers. Written by Jimmy Van Heusen and Sammy Cahn, this Dion/Sinatra duet is the title song of the collection
and a respectful and loving tribute. "If Walls Could Talk" - Celine's first collaboration with writer/producer
Robert John "Mutt" Lange, best known for his multi-platinum recordings with Shania Twain. "I Want
You To Need Me" - A powerful new ballad from the prolific pen of Diane Warren, Grammy Award-winning composer of "If
You Asked Me To," "Love Can Move Mountains," and "Because You Loved Me (Theme From Up Close And Personal)."
This track is produced by Matt Serletic, a maker of state-of-the-art rock records with Matchbox 20, Sugar Ray, and Aerosmith,

a statement in response to several news stories released this past weekend which speak about allegations made by a former
member of her band. The stories refer to a claim made by her drummer of four years ago, Mr. Peter Barbeau, who is suing her
for wrongful dismissal and infringement of copyright. The stories also quotes Mr. Barbeau, who claims that Ms. Dion uses recorded
samples of her voice at her live shows. Says Ms. Dion "I wasn't really involved too much with Peter leaving the band.
This really had more to do with the musicians and how they wanted to change a few things. As far as the publishing stuff goes,
I haven't had anything to do with this either, but the people who take care of my business have assured me that Peter has
100% control of his interest in his song. The thing that really upsets me is what's been said about my live performances...
the way it was said makes it sound like I'm not singing live at my shows, which is not true. In the past, we've used instrumentation
and voice samples on the up tempo numbers. This just gives the dance tracks a bit more punch to enhance the live performance,
but I think that's normal. As far as singing live, well this is what I love to do the most. My whole life revolves around
singing live and I think my fans know this about me. Whether it's not talking for two days between shows or not eating certain
foods on show days, or not being near air conditioning even when it's 95 degrees... my whole focus is to keep my vocal chords
in top shape so that I can deliver when I'm on stage. My fans know this, and everyone who's seen my show knows that I put
everything I've got into every performance that I give." CelineOnline Goes 'All The Way' September

Loved Me It's All Coming Back To Me Now Love Can Move Mountains To Love You More My Heart Will Go On
I'm Your Angel That's The Way It Is If Walls Could Talk The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face All The
Way Then You Look At Me I Want You To Need Me Live Walking On Celine's Star September 20,
1999 In Canada, Celine Dion is a permanent star who is etched in stone. On Friday, September
17, Celine unveiled a star made of marble and granite bearing her name. The star serves as a reminder of the impact Celine
has on Canadian cultural heritage. The ceremony that inducted Celine to Canada's Walk Of Fame took place in Toronto on King
St. where Toronto's Mayor Mel Lastman and The Hon. Sheila Copps presented Celine with her star and the key to the city. A
young girl with CF named Caitlyn Brady thanked Celine for all her work with CF by handing her a bouquet of flowers. Celine
replied by telling Caitlyn not to give up because one day there will be a cure. Hundreds of Celine fans gathered around to
take photos and yell out words of love. If you are in Toronto and want to visit Celine's star, it's on King Street,
just East of The Royal Alexandra Theatre. 'Au Coeur Du Stade' September 14, 1999 Curious to learn

The Top March 16, 1998 On Saturday, "Titanic" became the top-selling movie ever, and after 9 weeks,
'Music from the Motion Picture Titanic' is still afloat the Billboard Charts at #1. "'Titanic' is a magical
combination of a wonderful musical effort connected to an incredible film. It's a perfect example of the film's director (James
Cameron) working with the composer (James Horner), allowing the music to be so transparent and to play perfectly with the
poignant scenes in the film. People have seen the film and are going back to see it again, and this album is a way of having
a permanent record of the movie." ~Peter Gelb, president of Sony Classical, to the Hollywood Reporter Celine
has only worked on four soundtracks in her career, and each one has been as big as the movie. Celine sang on the soundtrack
for "Beauty and the Beast" in 1991, she sang "When I Fall In Love" for "Sleepless in Seattle"
in 1993 and "Because You Loved Me" in "Up Close and Personal" in 1996. "All these films
have been large successes as records, and those records substantially impacted boxoffice. When Celine does a single and
video for a movie, it is an event unto itself." ~Glen Brunman, executive vp of Sony Music Soundtrax, to the Hollywood
Reporter Listen to the love theme song that won't let the "Titanic" sink, My Heart Will Go On."
Sailing The Star-Ship Enterprise March 10, 1998 "When Cameron hired composer James Horner to score
his film, the director had two demands: no standard orchestration and no pop songs. Feeling Titanic still needed something
to sum up Rose's feelings at film's end, Horner secretly commissioned lyricist Will Jennings to compose words for the movie's
love theme, sang the song for his friend Celine Dion, invited Dion to record it, and then presented the tape to Cameron. Voil:
a fitting climax for the film and another Dion movie-pegged smash." Read the full cover story of this week's

26, 1997 Celine made Canadian sales history today, for the first-week sales of her new album 'Let's Talk About Love.'
In the seven days following the November 18 release of the album, Canadians bought an incredible 230,212 copies of the album,
according to the national sales monitoring system Soundscan. "Since the introduction of the Soundscan system
in Canada in 1996, the record for first-week sales had been 67,043 -- set by the Backstreet Boys in August of 1997,"
comments Doug Spence, director of Canadian operations for Soundscan. "Not only has Celine Dion's sales success eclipsed
the existing record, it also signifies that 1 out of every 100 Canadians purchased 'Let's Talk About Love' in its first week
in stores. That's a phenomenal statistic. On a personal note, it's very gratifying to me that the record for the largest first-week
Soundscan in Canada has been claimed by a Canadian." After a 15-year professional career and sales of more
than 50 million albums in the past five years, Celine is widely recognized as one of the best and best-loved voices in popular
music today. Her previous release, March 1996's 'Falling Into You,' became the best-selling album released that year, topping
the charts in Canada, and around the world. The excitement and demand for 'Let's Talk About Love' led to a million-album
shipment to Canadian stores in anticipation of the November 18 release date -- another record-breaking event in Canadian music
history, and one which makes 'Let's Talk About Love' Celine's fourth consecutive diamond album. "We are thrilled
with the success of a great album by a great artist," Sony Music Canada president Rick Camilleri comments. "With
more than 230,000 copies sold in the first week alone, Canadians have embraced Celine Dion this Christmas in unprecedented
numbers." FORE!!! November 21, 1997 Tune in to see Celine take a golf lesson from the pros
as part of VH1's annual charity golf tournament Fairway To Heaven. Keep up to par with Celine this Saturday, November 22nd

"At 29, Ms. Dion is Canada's first true global superstar. The singer's previous album, last year's Falling into
You , has sold more than 10 million copies in the United States and won her a Grammy there for album of the year. Her song
To Love You More was the first No. 1 record in Japan by a North American artist in almost 15 years. Earlier this year, she
was named the bestselling French-language artist in the history of record making. Yesterday, the streets outside
the TVA network's downtown studios were chock-a-block with everybody else's remote broadcast trucks. Even the CBC didn't hesitate
to join the media rampage, along with journalists from across the country, not to mention the Italian national network. If
France, Germany and England were less represented, it was only because simultaneous satellite feeds to London, Paris and Frankfurt
had been arranged earlier." Read the full scoop on the Montreal press conference for Celine's new album in

"Over The Top" October 15, 1997 Billboard's review of "Tell Him": "Talk
about an event. Two of pop music's best voices are united on a grand, wonderfully over-the-top ballad that will melt the heart
of even the most jaded listener. No one will be able to resist the electricity resulting from the blend of their voices on
what will likely become a quintessential 'girlfriend' anthem. Dion denizens who have long touted the Canadian diva as a likely
successor to the Streisand throne will find validation in a recording that shows how equally matched their performances are.
Who else but David Foster and Walter Afanasieff could preside over such a monumental production? No one - as evidenced in
an arrangement that sparks with orchestral flourishes. No need to predict the hit potential of this gem. Just start monitoring
its chart progressions. 'Tell Him' will be featured on Dion's new 'Let's Talk About Love' album, as well as on Streisand's
forthcoming 'Higher Ground' collection." Other news on Celine's upcoming album 'Let's Talk About Love' ...
