Cline To Participate in Relief Effort Telethon
September 19, 2001
Members of the entertainment industry are joining forces for a two-hour TV Special, 'America: A Tribute To Heroes.' The commercial-free telethon will air live on Friday, September 21 at 9:00 p.m. (Eastern and Central time zones). The four major US networks - ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC - are broadcasting the show and also very generously bearing the costs for the program. The special will be broadcast on tape delay in the Mountain and Pacific time zones and will be video streamed on the Internet as well as simulcast on radio stations. Cable networks and along with all of the other broadcast networks are also being invited to participate.

Pledges will be taken during the telethon to raise funds for the thousands of people who suffered losses as a result of the tragic events on September 11 in America.

The telethon will feature appearances and performances by the following entertainers, among others: Bon Jovi, Amy Brenneman, Jim Carrey, George Clooney, Sheryl Crow, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Cline Dion, The Dixie Chicks, Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Calista Flockhart, Dennis Franz, Kelsey Grammer, Tom Hanks, Faith Hill, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Conan O'Brien, Tom Petty, Ray Romano, Julia Roberts, Paul Simon, Will Smith, Bruce Springsteen, Sela Ward, Robin Williams, Steve Wonder, Neil Young.

Music Superstar Joins with Franco Dragone, Sony Music and Concerts West to Form Dream Team Alliance in Creation of Long-Running Musical Production

LAS VEGAS (May 17, 2001) As part of an unprecedented alliance, Sony Music recording artist Celine Dion has accepted an offer to perform in an exclusive, extended engagement at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. The unique production, which will be presented by Concerts West, will debut in March, 2003.

Ms. Dions performance will be the centerpiece of a spectacular theatrical presentation directed by Franco Dragone, creator of the enormously successful "Quidam," "O" and "Mystre." A brand-new 4,000-seat theatre, designed to resemble the Colosseum in Rome, is being constructed specifically for this concert engagement which is scheduled to run for a minimum of three years.

Ms. Dion, who gave birth to her first child on January 25th, was recently named the worlds best selling female artist, selling more than 125 million albums worldwide over the past decade.

Ms. Dion and her husband Ren Anglils company, CDA Productions Inc., will produce the show, in association with Franco Dragones company, Crations du Dragon (cq). Concerts West, an Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) company, will present the show.

Based in Belgium, Criations du Dragon specializes in the creation and production of high level artistic live shows entertainment, special events and multimedia projects.

There's no hiding happiness. We can't keep something so big, so wonderful, a secret just for us. This time it's for real - I'm pregnant.

We just found out yesterday afternoon, Ren and I, that the dream dearest to our hearts has come true. We are completely, totally happy. And we thank God for the great joy we've been given.

Over this past year, we went through a terrible test together, but we made it through. Stronger, closer, more loving than ever. The man of my life, my whole life was seriously ill. He could have thrown in the towel, given up, and let our happiness die. But, instead of giving up, he chose to fight with all his might. Because he loves life. Because he loves me. For his children, for his friends.

And today, the life he fought for and saved is now beating inside of me, growing inside of me. This is my love. This is the proof that you must believe in happiness, the proof that love exists so long as you believe in it.

A few days ago, Ren went through some major tests that all came back negative. The doctors who examined him found no trace of the disease. For me, this is still what counts most.

In three weeks, if all goes well, we'll hear the heart of our baby, beating in my tummy.

We know how fragile this new life is.

But, we know that, whatever happens, life has already won.

INTERNATIONAL SUPERSTAR CELINE DION To HEADLINE NABISCO CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRITY PRO-AM

RANCHO MIRAGE,CALIF.- The Nabisco Championship, the first major LPGA golf tournament of the year, has announced that global superstar Celine Dion will headline the tournaments 2000 Celebrity Pro-Am. The Nabisco Championship Celebrity Pro-Am marks one of Celine's first public appearances since she started her hiatus from active performance at the end of the year. Moreover, the event represents Celine's first celebrity pro-am appearance on the LPGA Tour. The Nabisco Championship Celebrity Pro-Am will be held Tuesday, March 22, at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Considered the premiere contemperary pop vocalist, Celine has earned music accolades from around the world including Grammy awards in the United States; Juno and Felix awards in Canada; and World Music Awards in Europe. So far in her career, she has sold more than 120 million albums worldwide-more than any female solo artist in the history of the music business.

Celine has been an avid golfer for three years and plays golf year-round. She and her husband, Rene, spend winters at their house on a golf course in Juniper,Fla., and summers at their own golf course in Montreal, Quebec.

"I have almost an obsessive love for golf. So I am very excited about playing in the Nabisco Championship Celebrity Pro-Am," Celine said. "The game is always a great challenge and great fun. All of that will be heightened by playing side-by-side with the great champions of the LPGA Tour and the other celebrities in Nabisco's tournament."

Joining Celine at the Nabisco Championship Pro-Am is a lengthy list of famous names from film, television and music. As in years past, the stars will be teamed up with the best professional golfers in the world for 72 holes of golf. Other celebrities set to compete include Alice Cooper, Patrick Duffy, Jamie Farr, Glenn Frey, Franco Harris, Don Merideth, Tommy Smothers and Johnny Unitas, among other's.

According to Terry Wicox, tournament director for The Nabisco Championship, this year's Pro-Am is expected to attract one of the most exciting celebrity fields to date.

"We are thrilled that Celine will be participating in our event this year," Wilcox said. "She is one of the world's biggest superstars and will be a great addition to our celebrity field. Golf and music fans alike will have one of their best opportunities ever to see Celine."

During the two days of celebrity golf action, The Nabisco Championship is offering addmission to adults 55 years and older as part of "Senior Appreciation Days," sponsered by Merril Lynch.

The 2000 Nabisco Championship starts on Monday, March 20, with a practice round for LPGA players and the finals for the Toyota/Nabisco $1 Million Hole-in-one Contest and the Celebrity Hole-in-one Contest for charity. Both events are free and open to the public. Championship play will follow on Thursday, March 23, through Sunday, March 26.

In addition, The Nabisco Championship kicks off the first leg of The Nabisco Grand Slam Challenge. The new bonus pool program will reward the winner of The Nabisco Championship with up to $2.5 million if she goes on to win the other three majors on the LPGA Tour during the year.

Celine Files Suit Against The National Enquirer

Cline Dion has filed a 20 million dollar lawsuit, in the Los Angeles Superior Court, against the National Enquirer who recently published a false headline and cover story entitled "Cline - I'm pregnant with twins". The publication also falsely suggests or creates the impression that Cline personally gave an interview to the tabloid and is quoted to have made the statement that she is pregnant with twins. The headline falsely implies that Cline was a direct source for the story and purports to quote Ms. Dion in professing her pregnancy.

It has been well publicized that Ms. Dion very much wants to start a family but has been unable to conceive to date, and the false headline and article have caused her significant emotional anguish. Since its publication, Ms. Dion has been embarrassed by the inquiries from numerous friends and associates regarding the false information published by the Enquirer, and is distressed by having to continually inform these individuals that in fact she is not pregnant. She issued the following statement.

"This thing has really upset me. Since that story came out, everyone has been congratulating me, and I have to keep telling them that it's not true. I only wish it was true, and I hope and pray that some day it will be."

Celine Dion ranked No. 1 at home and abroad in record sales

TORONTO (CP) -- The Canadian Recording Industry Association has ranked Celine Dion "the best-selling Canadian recording artist of the
century."

The Quebec superstar has sold more records than any other Canadian artist, according to a survey of Canadian and international record sales.

"At the close of 1999, Celine had sold almost nine million albums in Canada, far more than any other Canadian artist," said association president Brian Robertson. "Her worldwide sales are shooting past 110 million units and counting."

Dion's new album 'All the Way . . . a Decade of Song' is currently topping charts in 12 countries, the association said.

Two other Canadian artists with outstanding sales nationally and internationally in the survey were Shania Twain and Bryan Adams, the association said.

Circle Tuesday, November 16, on your calendar! That's the day Celine's greatest hits album 'All The Way - A Decade Of Song' will be in stores!

Celine is the world's best-selling solo artist and a five-time Grammy Award winner, she has sold more than 100 million albums in the past decade. 'All The Way' begins with nine of Celine's best-loved recordings, including her Number One singles "The Power Of Love," "Because You Loved Me (Theme From Up Close And Personal)," "I'm Your Angel," and the Grammy and Academy Award-winning classic "My Heart Will Go On (Love Theme From Titanic)." Also included are "Beauty And The Beast," winner of the 1992 Academy Award for Best Song Written For A Motion Picture Or Television; the smash "It's All Coming Back to Me Now"; and the hit "If You Asked Me To."

'All The Way' also includes seven brand-new songs, all recorded in the summer of '99 specifically for this collection. Here are just a few of the highlights:

"That's The Way It Is" - The premiere single and video from the album, produced by Max Martin and Kristian Lundin (Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears), "That's The Way It Is" is a heartfelt mid-tempo track perfectly in tune with contemporary pop music.

"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" - This classic Ewen MacColl ballad became a No. 1 hit for Roberta Flack in 1972. David Foster's sensitive production and orchestration frame one of Celine's finest vocal performances.

"If Walls Could Talk" - Celine's first collaboration with writer/producer Robert John "Mutt" Lange, best known for his multi-platinum recordings with Shania Twain.

"I Want You To Need Me" - A powerful new ballad from the prolific pen of Diane Warren, Grammy Award-winning composer of "If You Asked Me To," "Love Can Move Mountains," and "Because You Loved Me (Theme From Up Close And Personal)." This track is produced by Matt Serletic, a maker of state-of-the-art rock records with Matchbox 20, Sugar Ray, and Aerosmith, among others.

To support her new release, Celine be making many US television appearances including Oprah (Tuesday, November 16), The Today Show (Monday, November 22), The Tonight Show With Jay Leno (Thursday, December 9), and Rosie O'Donnell (Monday, December 13).

Finally, on Wednesday, November 24, Celine Dion will star in her second CBS Television Network special, "Celine Dion: All The Way." Celine's first CBS special, broadcast November 25, 1998, was the highest-rated program in its time period and the Number One network program for the night.

Celine Speaks Out
October 13, 1999

Celine Dion has issued a statement in response to several news stories released this past weekend which speak about allegations made by a former member of her band. The stories refer to a claim made by her drummer of four years ago, Mr. Peter Barbeau, who is suing her for wrongful dismissal and infringement of copyright. The stories also quotes Mr. Barbeau, who claims that Ms. Dion uses recorded samples of her voice at her live shows. Says Ms. Dion "I wasn't really involved too much with Peter leaving the band. This really had more to do with the musicians and how they wanted to change a few things. As far as the publishing stuff goes, I haven't had anything to do with this either, but the people who take care of my business have assured me that Peter has 100% control of his interest in his song.

The thing that really upsets me is what's been said about my live performances... the way it was said makes it sound like I'm not singing live at my shows, which is not true. In the past, we've used instrumentation and voice samples on the up tempo numbers. This just gives the dance tracks a bit more punch to enhance the live performance, but I think that's normal. As far as singing live, well this is what I love to do the most. My whole life revolves around singing live and I think my fans know this about me. Whether it's not talking for two days between shows or not eating certain foods on show days, or not being near air conditioning even when it's 95 degrees... my whole focus is to keep my vocal chords in top shape so that I can deliver when I'm on stage. My fans know this, and everyone who's seen my show knows that I put everything I've got into every performance that I give."

Walking On Celine's Star

In Canada, Celine Dion is a permanent star who is etched in stone.

On Friday, September 17, Celine unveiled a star made of marble and granite bearing her name. The star serves as a reminder of the impact Celine has on Canadian cultural heritage. The ceremony that inducted Celine to Canada's Walk Of Fame took place in Toronto on King St. where Toronto's Mayor Mel Lastman and The Hon. Sheila Copps presented Celine with her star and the key to the city. A young girl with CF named Caitlyn Brady thanked Celine for all her work with CF by handing her a bouquet of flowers. Celine replied by telling Caitlyn not to give up because one day there will be a cure. Hundreds of Celine fans gathered around to take photos and yell out words of love.

The Celine Way

Prepare yourself to be spoiled by Celine this fall: the world's greatest singer will resume the tour that was interrupted last spring on September 8 and 9 at the Molson Centre in Montreal. The tour will then continue across Canada and the United States. Check the tour section for details.

There's lost more to look forward to. In the following weeks, Celine will be releasing two new albums.

As you know, Tuesday, September 14 is the release date for 'Au Coeur Du Stade,' a live album recorded at the Stade de France on June 19 and 20, 1999. A souvenir of these two magical nights and of Celine's triumph before 192,000 people, 'Au Coeur Du Stade' will be a limited edition and offers those of us who were not present at these concerts a unique chance to experience these unforgettable nights.

On Tuesday, November 16, you can look forward to Celine's first english compilation to be released around the world. The album's current working title is 'All The Way.' This long-awaited album features Celine's greatest hits, as well as five to nine new songs!

This fall Celine will be onstage and on discs so that we can relive the best moments of her career and thrill to the sound of her future successes.

The last major event of the millenium. The Grand Finale of Celine Dion at the Molson Centre - Friday, December 31, 1999.

Without a second thought, Celine Dion has declined every proposal and invitation that she has received in the past few months to present a mega end-of-the-year show in either Las Vegas, New York, Los Angeles or even Australia.

As tempting as those offers were, she has chosen to share the evening of December 31, 1999 into January 1, 2000 surrounded by family and friends. It will be a magical evening, the most memorable in history.

For this special occasion, Celine has prepared a very unique and unforgettable show. She will be performing the songs that have made her the most popular recording artist of the decade, including brand new material from her forthcoming greatest hits album. (The current working title for the album is "All The Way".)

On this spectacular night, Celine has invited some very special guests for whom she has great admiration: Heading up the guest list will be superstar Bryan Adams. Also on hand - Bruno Pelletier, Daniel Lavoie, Garou and Luck Mervil of Notre-Dame-de-Paris who, under the artistic direction of Luc Plamondon, will present solo and group version of the most famous songs from the most famous musical of our time. They will be joined by Celine on some of these songs. And to kick off the entire evening - the amazing characters of humourist and imitator Stephane Rousseau.

This gala show will last for over four hours. The show begins at 9:00 p.m. ET and will end after the first hour of the morning of the brand new millenium.

A priceless night, a rare chance to pass from one century to another with the greatest singer in the world coming home to offer her Montreal fans her last show for a very long time!


Au Coeur Du Celine

Celine's new live album titled 'Celine au Coeur du Stade' was recorded at the Stade de France in Paris, during Celine's two sold-out performances on June 19 and 20, 1999. These performances made concert history as Celine became the very first to draw attendance in excess of 90,000 spectators at a single show for a grand total of 180,000 in only two nights. WOW!

The album features material from Celine's repertoire never previously performed in France.

In Europe the CD was released on August 27, 1999 and in France, Belgium and Switzerland their was also a video released on August 31.

In Canada, you can look forward to the CD release on Tuesday, September 14, 1999!

Celine, Pavarotti & Friends '98
June 10, 1998

Celine performed with Pavarotti & Friends on Tuesday, June 9 to benefit the Children of Liberia. An album and video of the event are in the works. 'Pavarotti & Friends for the Children of Liberia' the album will feature the live performances by Celine, Jon Bon Jovi, The Corrs, The Spice Girls, Stevie Wonder, Trisha Yearwood, and more, singing both solo and with Luciano Pavarotti.

A documentary video of the concert was shot by director Spike Lee, of films "He Got Game" and "Jungle Fever." The album and video will be released this October.

Funds raised from the 1998 concert and album/video sales will go towards building the Pavarotti & Friends Children's Village in the war-torn African nation.

Christmas Album

Celine will be in studio recording her debut Christmas album this August, in either New York or Los Angeles.

In Christmas past, Celine recorded "A Christmas Song" for a David Foster variety television special and "Petit Papa Noel" with the Chipmunks for 'A Very Merry Chipmunk Christmas.'

Celine's management told Jam!Music a bit about the album: "It's going to be a blend of traditional Christmas and a few new songs. I'd rather not give away the tunes at this stage only because we haven't decided them yet. It involves certain producers and certain writers. We still haven't even totally involved everyone on our side. "

The Christmas album is expected to be in stores this fall.

On Saturday, "Titanic" became the top-selling movie ever, and after 9 weeks, 'Music from the Motion Picture Titanic' is still afloat the Billboard Charts at #1.

Feeling Titanic still needed something to sum up Rose's feelings at film's end, Horner secretly commissioned lyricist Will Jennings to compose words for the movie's love theme, sang the song for his friend Celine Dion, invited Dion to record it, and then presented the tape to Cameron. Voil: a fitting climax for the film and another Dion movie-pegged smash."

'Music from the Motion Picture Titanic' has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, making it one of the top selling instrumental soundtracks in music history. The album has been on top of the Billboard 200 for five weeks, and is No. 1 in Canada, Australia, Austria, France, Malaysia, Mexico, Switzerland, and Taiwan.

Titanic, the motion picture, has been at the top of the box office for nine weeks and is now the third-biggest boxoffice moneymaker.

"My Heart Will Go On" recently picked up two Golden Globe awards, for the Best Original Song and Best Original Score, and was nominated for two Academy Awards, for Best Dramatic Score and Best Song From A Motion Picture.

"Titanic" has been nominated for 14 Academy Awards, two of the nominations for the film's love theme "My Heart Will Go On," sung by Celine.

For Original Dramatic Score, the contenders are "Amistad," John Williams; "Good Will Hunting," Danny Elfman; "Kundun," Philip Glass; "L.A. Confidential," Jerry Goldsmith; and "Titanic," James Horner.

For Original Song, the contenders are "Go The Distance" from "Hercules," Alan Menken and David Zippel; "How Do I Live" from "Con Air," Diane Warren; "Journey To The Past" from "Anastasia," Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens; "Miss Misery" from "Good Will Hunting," Elliott Smith; and "My Heart Will Go On" from "Titanic," James Horner and Will Jennings.

The 70th Annual Academy Awards take place on Monday, March 23 at 9:00 p.m. Eastern, on ABC. Billy Crystal will host the ceremony.

Celine made Canadian sales history today, for the first-week sales of her new album 'Let's Talk About Love.' In the seven days following the November 18 release of the album, Canadians bought an incredible 230,212 copies of the album, according to the national sales monitoring system Soundscan.

"Since the introduction of the Soundscan system in Canada in 1996, the record for first-week sales had been 67,043 -- set by the Backstreet Boys in August of 1997," comments Doug Spence, director of Canadian operations for Soundscan. "Not only has Celine Dion's sales success eclipsed the existing record, it also signifies that 1 out of every 100 Canadians purchased 'Let's Talk About Love' in its first week in stores. That's a phenomenal statistic. On a personal note, it's very gratifying to me that the record for the largest first-week Soundscan in Canada has been claimed by a Canadian."

After a 15-year professional career and sales of more than 50 million albums in the past five years, Celine is widely recognized as one of the best and best-loved voices in popular music today. Her previous release, March 1996's 'Falling Into You,' became the best-selling album released that year, topping the charts in Canada, and around the world.

The excitement and demand for 'Let's Talk About Love' led to a million-album shipment to Canadian stores in anticipation of the November 18 release date -- another record-breaking event in Canadian music history, and one which makes 'Let's Talk About Love' Celine's fourth consecutive diamond album.

Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me" will join the 'Diana, Princess Of Wales: Tribute,' a two-CD collection of new and special material by the world's superstar recording artists. The song was hand picked by Celine for the tribute.

Lady Sarah McCorquodale, one of the Princess of Wales' sisters and a Trustee of The Fund, said, "As a family, we are all delighted and greatly moved by the kindness and generosity of so many distinguished artists in contributing to this unique album. So much time and energy has been given by people across the music industry, to whom the Trustees also extend their thanks. I very much hope that this album will give as much pleasure to those who buy it, as comfort to the charitable causes which will ultimately benefit."

The album is a music industry collaboration between all the major record companies and top international artists and will benefit The Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fund. In North America, look for the compilation in stores on December 2, 1997.
